Fairy Blessings Coming Your Way by Guest Jess Francisco

Hey crafty friends!

It’s Jess and I’m back with a second project featuring the adorable stand along release from Scrapping for Less. I love today’s project – maybe even more than my first one! Let’s get started.

I grabbed a few Distress Oxide ink pads and started on my blending. I like to start with my lightest color and blend over the entire area first. Then I go in with my next darker color and blend just slightly less area than with the first color. I keep doing this as I move to each darker color and the end result is a really cool gradient effect with the colors.
After my ink blending was done, I grabbed a sparkle pen from Spectrum Noir and tapped the barrel to get some of that gorgeous clear sparkle to plop right onto my panel. Since the Distress Oxides react with water, I got a really cool effect with this technique.
I set my panel aside to dry and moved on to coloring. I chose to use alcohol markers here (the Spectrum Noir Classique line), but you can use whatever method you’re most comfortable with. Once your coloring is done, you’re ready for a sentiment.
I decided to do some ‘stamp surgery’ as I’ve heard it called. I wanted a more long and narrow sentiment rather than a stacked one, so I cut apart the two lines of text ‘fairy blessings’ and ‘coming your way!’ Then, I used my Mini MISTI to line them up in a straight line across and stamp them onto black cardstock with Embossing Ink. I poured on some white embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and melted the powder with my heat tool.

I adhered my sentiment across the top section of my card and then mounted the card panel on a white A2 sized card base. I’m absolutely in love with how this one turned out. Be sure to let me know what you think about it by leaving a comment!

Hugs and love,
